(Right Country) – Racism in America has become a major theme of 2020. Is there actual racism in America? While most people would be hard-pressed to name any actually racist people they know (no, just being a Trump supporter does not make someone actually racist), it could most certainly be argued that there are numerous examples of actual systemic racism in the US.
Laws such as the 1994 Crime Bill, for example, have targeted blacks and other people of color for almost 20 years. Thanks to these bills a disproportionate number of blacks have ended up in prison for excessively lengthy sentences for nonviolent offenses.
When the term “criminal justice reform” comes up it’s bills like these that need to be addressed. What America doesn’t need is the implementation of the radical left’s Marxist agenda which includes defunding the police and abolishing the prison system altogether.
When we talk about the 1994 Crime Bill, we have to discuss the fact that Joe Biden, then US Senator, was a major advocate of that bill. There are nonviolent offenders still sitting in prisons, after over a decade, thanks to that bill. It has ruined the lives of many and torn many families apart, most heavily affecting black communities.
On Thursday night, at an ABC Town Hall with George Stephanopoulus, Biden made a half-hearted attempt to atone for supporting the 1994 bill. While he said it was a “mistake” he then blamed individual states for the way they “chose” to implement it.
“Here’s where the mistake came,” he said. “The mistake came in terms of what the states did locally. What we did federally — you remember George, it was all about the same time for the same crime.”
So, he’ll take the blame but only just a little. The states should have known better than to implement a federal law the way it was written.
It also looks like Rapper Ice Cube should have known better than to take Joe Biden and the Democrats at their word that they care about black communities.
When Ice Cube wrote up his Contract with Black America earlier this year, in the wake of George Floyd’s death, he expected the Democrats to jump on board but, as it turns out, the only politician who’s been willing to hear him out has been President Trump and, remember, President Trump is a “racist.”
Ice Cube called Joe Biden and the Democrats out Wednesday in a tweet in which he said the Party told him they would address his issues “after the election.” Gee, it sure looks like Biden and the Democrats are asking voters to put an awful lot of blind faith in them. Apparently, the black community doesn’t “deserve” to know how the Democrats plan to handle their grievances until after the election just like voters don’t “deserve” to know if he’ll pack the Supreme Court.
On the other hand, President Trump has reached out to Ice Cube and has even implemented some of the rappers’ Contract ideas by making “some adjustments” to his campaign’s “Platinum Plan.” The Platinum Plan is President Trump’s “roadmap for economic, educational, and financial investments in black communities” as described by Breitbart.
What’s Joe Biden’s plan called? They’ll let us know … after the election.
