(Right Country) – Tech giant Facebook has been long blamed by the left for “allowing” President Donald Trump’s 2016 campaign to utilize their network to reach voters and rally his base.
And so, the past four years have been a practice in penance on the part of the social media giant, something which has taken the form of a veritable censorship bloodbath largely aimed at conservatives and Christians.
Their fact-checkers are obviously biased, their definition of “hate speech” incredibly problematic, and their weak assurances that they’re completely objective fall flat every time they apply their clearly targeted censorship.
Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) is calling Facebook out for their preemptive–that’s right, preemptive–censorship of a New York Post report that contradicts Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden’s claims to have never discussed his son Hunter Biden’s foreign business dealings.
The outlet published emails on Wednesday morning that indicate Biden was not telling the truth when he said he never discussed business with Hunter “or with anyone else.”
However, the emails refer to a meeting between Biden and Ukrainian Burisma advisor, Vadym Pozharskyi which was coordinated by Hunter.
Remember how Joe Biden bragged after leaving office while addressing the Council on Foreign Relations that he had threatened to withhold billions in US aid to Ukraine if they did not fire the investigator that was looking into Burisma on suspicion of corruption?
Well, it’s also been established that Burisma was lobbying the US State Department for support in the investigation and name-dropped Hunter. After all, Joe Biden was spearheading the Obama administration’s foreign policy in Ukraine.
Hunter, who had no relevant experience or expertise, was earning as much as $50,000 a month while sitting on the board as his father was serving in this capacity.
Just hours after the story was published, Facebook said that point-blank, they would be censoring the story. Before it had even been fact-checked.
“While I will intentionally not link to the New York Post, I want be clear that this story is eligible to be fact checked by Facebook’s third-party fact checking partners,” Facebook spokesperson Andy Stone, who, by the way, is a one-time Democratic staffer.
“In the meantime, we are reducing its distribution on our platform.”

Enter Hawley, who unleashed on the tech giant for their baseless censorship of potentially criminal activity on the part of a Democrat candidate for president.
.@Facebook I want to know on what grounds you are actively censoring a news report about potentially illegal corruption by the Democrat candidate for president. If you have evidence this is “disinformation,” disclose it immediately. Expect a formal inquiry from my office

“The seemingly selective nature of this public intervention suggests partiality on the part of Facebook,” the Senator stated in a letter to Mark Zuckerberg, CEO of Facebook.
“And your efforts to suppress the distribution of content revealing potentially unethical activity by a candidate for president raises a number of additional questions, to which I expect responses immediately,” he continued.
Hawley has been one of the most active members of Congress in calling out Big Tech censorship and seeking to restrict Silicon Valley giants from having so much power to control the free flow of information.
They know the kind of power that they have, and considering the companies are run almost entirely by far-left progressive zealots, they can’t help but wield it, right over our heads.
It is time they were stopped.
