(Right Country) – During the last few years of booming economic growth in our country, more than one leftist pundit openly wished for a recession so that Trump would face a more challenging bid for re-election.
Now that they got their wish and the economy has crashed thanks to the coronavirus pandemic and the bad models financed by leftists who predicted millions of deaths, they’re hoping we don’t recover too quickly, for the same reason.
Let that sink in.
These people care more about getting a president they hate out of office than they do about our country actually doing well.
This is why it’s not at all hyperbolic to claim that the Democrats hate their country.
Fox News reports:
As President Trump and the rest of the country grapple with an economic downturn and sky-high unemployment rates amid the coronavirus crisis, some Democrats reportedly worry that an explosive economic recovery in the fall could revive Trump’s lagging political fortunes — and boost his chance at reelection.
Politico reports that Jason Furman, a top economist in the Obama administration and now a Harvard professor, told a bipartisan group of policymakers last month that “We are about to see the best economic data we’ve seen in the history of this country.”
The claims may seem counterintuitive amid the bleak economic picture right now. But it’s premised on assumptions that as lockdowns ease, a recovery could follow more quickly than after past economic crises. Since his earlier prediction, Furman has reportedly also been making the case to Democrats, including top members of presumptive nominee Joe Biden’s campaign.
“This is my big worry,” a former Obama White House official told the outlet, who said of the concern about top members of the party: “It’s high — high, high, high, high.”
According to some polls, Trump is trailing Biden slightly. But of course, polls also showed Hillary would win, and look how that turned out.
Anyway, part of the reason, if we’re assuming the polls are accurate, that Trump is behind Biden could easily be attributed to attitudes towards the pandemic and subsequent lockdown measures across the country.
A recent Fox News poll placed Biden with an 8-point lead above POTUS.
However, there are already signs that, despite the crushing unemployment rates, the staggering economy could easily get back on its feet.
Considering how the last three years have gone economically, this is easy to believe.
What Furman believes is that the current downturn is close to those that usually go along with a natural disaster, i.e, sharp drop-offs which are followed by sharp rebounds.
He says there could easily be a “very fast” recovery if people get back to work.
“Given how many people were furloughed and how many businesses were closed you can get a big jump out of that. It will look like a V,” he told Politico.
The White House clearly feels the same way. Earlier this month, Trump said, “I think you’re going to have a ‘V’ — I think it’s going to be terrific.”
So again, this means the Democrats will actually be disappointed if our country is winning. And doesn’t that just sum up the Trump era in a nutshell?
