Trump Slams Fox News’ Cavuto After This Bogus Statement On Hydroxychloroquine

(Right Country) – On Monday, President Donald Trump lashed out at the Fox News Channel after host Neil Cavuto warned about the possible health risks of the drug hydroxychloroquine, which the president is currently taking as a prophylactic measure under the direction of the White House physician.

[email protected] is no longer the same. We miss the great Roger Ailes. You have more anti-Trump people, by far, than ever before. Looking for a new outlet!” President Trump tweeted in response.

President Trump told reporters at the White Housse that he’s been taking the antimalarial drug daily for about ten days along with a dose of zinc.

Following this announcement, Cavuto, on his program Your World with Neil Cavuto, called the president’s statement “stunning” and warned that the drug could kill some who may consume it.

If anyone takes the drug under the direction of their doctor, as the president is doing, it is the doctor’s fault. Not the president’s. What is Cavuto smoking? Or more to the point, who does he think his audience is? This kind of garbage is far better suited for CNN or MSNBC.

Cavuto said:

A number of studies, those certainly vulnerable in the population have one thing to lose, their lives. A VA study showed that among a population of veterans in a hospital receiving this treatment, those with vulnerable conditions, respiratory conditions, heart elements, they died.

Those who took it, in a vulnerable population, including those with respiratory or other conditions, they died. I want to stress again — they died. If you are in a risky population here and you are taking this as a preventative treatment to ward off the virus or, in a worst-case scenario, you are dealing with the virus, and you are in this vulnerable population, it will kill you. I cannot stress that enough. This will kill you.

So again, whatever benefit the president says this has — and certainly has had for those suffering from malaria, dealing with lupus — this is a leap that should not be taken casually by those watching at home or assuming, ‘well, the President of the United States says it’s okay.

Fox News medical contributor Dr. Manny Alvarez also criticized President Trump’s announcement which he called “highly irresponsible.”

Alvarez told Special Report host Bret Baier:

I found it to be highly irresponsible for the president to have come out and made that statement, and I would like to hear from the White House physician to come out tomorrow and explain to me what has changed in a week and a half or two weeks for the president to take this medication, when all the data that has been coming out very repetitively has shown that there’s really not a major benefit. In most hospitals, including mine, we’re not using chloroquine in the treatment of COVID patients in the present time.

Breitbart notes:

Adding zinc to hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin might help the drug combination resolve some COVID-19 symptoms, a study posted online this week said, though experts say the two-drug treatment’s benefit is questionable and carries health risks.

The findings breathe new life into a treatment regimen that has been touted by political and business leaders even before the results of clinical trials were in, experts said Wednesday.

Studies to date have indicated that the combination offers limited benefits at best, with potentially dangerous side effects.

“There is currently no highly effective agent for COVID-19 that we are aware of,” Dr. Joseph O. Rahimian, an infectious disease specialist at New York University Langone Health and co-author of the zinc study, told UPI.

“It may end up that optimal treatment will include multiple agents and that zinc may be a part of a treatment ‘cocktail,’” he said.

Historically, hydroxychloroquine has been used to treat malaria, while azithromycin is a commonly used antibiotic. Both have been studied in numerous clinical trials since the start of the outbreak of the new coronavirus, SARS-CoV-2.

To date, research has yielded mixed results. Last month, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning about “life-threatening” side effects associated with hydroxychloroquine and advised that the drug only be used in hospitalized patients with COVID-19, the disease caused by SARS-CoV-2.

  1. Now the article starts out with a big lie. Trump is nnot taking the hydroxychloroquine at the White House physicians instructions. Now accessing the letter published by the White House phyisian, saying he did not prescribe hydroxychloroquine for the President, he simply said that he and the President had talked about it. Now I can talk about any drug I like that does not mean the Doctor would prescribe it for me.

    • Robert, when we consult with our physicians about a possible med, we discuss pros and cons; then he tells us, it’s your choice. Exactly the same thing here. PRESIDENT Trump discussed with the Admiral and he provided pros and cons, “saying he and Trump concluded “the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risks.” That’s good enough for me. The doctor said it was OK.

President Trump’s physician on Monday confirmed that the president is now taking the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine despite not having the coronavirus, saying he and Trump concluded “the potential benefit from treatment outweighed the relative risks.”

In a 114-word letter released by the White House hours after Trump announced he was taking the medication, presidential physician Sean Conley wrote that he discussed the pros and cons of taking the drug with Trump after one of his personal valets tested positive for the coronavirus.

But the letter contained no specifics on when Trump started taking the drug or what his dosage is.

“In consultation with our inter-agency partners and subject matter experts around the country, I continue to monitor the myriad studies investigating potential COVID-19 therapies, and I anticipate employing the same shared medical decision making based on the evidence at hand in the future,” Conley wrote.

Trump told reporters earlier Monday he had started taking the controversial drug, which he has championed as a potential treatment for coronavirus despite limited evidence from the medical community.

The president said he consulted with the White House doctor about taking hydroxychloroquine, but it was not explicitly recommended for him since he has not tested positive for the virus.

“I asked him what do you think,” Trump said. “He said, ‘Well, if you’d like it.’ I said, ‘Yeah, I’d like it. I’d like to take it.’ ”

He said he’s been taking the drug for about a week-and-a-half along with a zinc supplement, adding he based his decision on positive reviews he’s heard from front-line health care workers who have had good results treating patients with it.”

  2. What is the big deal. Whether a doctor prescribed it or he is just taking it. We have bigger fish to fry right now with all that is going on. Don’t have time for such petty arguments. Cavuto is as one other poster said, an air-headed jerk who does nothing of any relevance. Trump does more in one day than he does in a year.

  3. Who cares? The abortion supporters of which Auntie Nan is a huge one, screams “CHOICE”!!! Why can’t the POTUS have the CHOICE to take this medication? Did Cavuto and Auntie Nan find their “medical degrees” in a Cracker Jack box? Who the heck is Cavuto? A useless, left-wing, anti Trumper, and he has been since the beginning.
If the PRESIDENT wants to watch a super network, watch One America News Network. We love it!! Used to be big FOX fans – no more – just watch a few programs. All the news we get from OAN. They are great!!!!

  4. This is beyond ridiculous. What Cavuto does not tell you is how ill these patients were and the fact that this was a last ditch effort to try to save their lives. It was not a promise of a cure, it was a hope and a prayer that it would help. In some cases it does, in some, unfortunately it does not. But, it does help people, that has been proven over and over again. Just ask (D) State Rep Karen Whitsett. Secondly, if he was not forthcoming that he was taking the drug, then opposition would have came out saying “how dare he keep this a secret”, “what is trying to hide”, “President Trump lies again”, blah, blah, blah!!! Neil, if you don’t want to take it, your choice. President Trump has made his, which he is entitled to do. He didn’t tell people to start taking it, he is doing what works for him. You can’t walk into a drugstore and buy it, you have to get a doctor to write a prescription. So, after consulting your physician, if it’s recommended to take the drug, then you have a choice!!!!!

  5. CAVUTO who has left leaning, never mention the name of Dr. SIGUEL, well known professor of Internal medicine at Langone Medical Center, was frequently guest at Fox News, has repeatedly reported exellent results with the same treatment on Hundreds of patients, mostly as a preventive measure, performed by several very experience Doctors. The same Hydroxychloroquine saved the life of his acutely ill very old father.
Forget about Cavuto, I’ll stop listening to his show forever!

  6. Will some one report on Spain, Turkey and Australia as noted in recent Ingraham video.
Also, remember “died FROM” is a political statement. God knows; the coroner guesses.
Lastly, is prophylaxis “last ditch” or “early on”

  7. The prophylactic effects of hydroxychloroquine were first accidentally noticed
by Chinese researchers who discovered that a particular segment of their people
did not seem to be susceptible to the Covid19 virus. When they looked further, they
discovered that all the people were being treated for Lupus with….
    HYDROXYCHLOROQUINE!!!

  8. Those so called doctors and scientists who are screaming no to Hydroxychloroquine are from guess where? Democrat controlled states. Theres the answer why they are saying no to it. TDS.
